Welcome!
Here you will find information about me as well as my published research and works in progress.
My disciplinary training is in sociology and I primarily self-identify as a “comparative historical” and “political” sociologist. My love of history, however, set me on an academic path and it continues to inform my research interests and agenda.
Briefly, I study conflicts over how states are built, how their institutional capacities evolve over time, and how these processes relate to economic development and the formation of national communities.
I’m currently Assistant Professor of Sociology at Bucknell University, where I have been teaching courses on social theory, politics, globalization, and nationalism since the fall of 2017. I received my Ph.D. in Sociology from UCLA earlier that year.
